Paracas is not only a small Peruvian city, but also a peninsula, a bay, a pre-Inca cultural site and a marine national reserve. In Paracas, the desert and the sea meet to form a spectacular landscape. The name Paracas is derived from the Quechua language and means ""Rain Sand"". Located in the province of Pisco, in the Ica department, Paracas is one of the most biodiverse flora and fauna sighting areas in Peru and South America. Its pleasant year-round climate, beautiful beaches and delicious cuisine are just some of the attractions this coastal district offers.
